RWTÜV e.V., originally a so-called "TÜV" technical inspection organization (a body in Germany largely responsible for statutory inspections), has combined all its business operations under the name of RWTÜV GmbH. RWTÜV GmbH is a management and financial holding company. Its subsidiaries operate in the field of high-level technical services.

RWTÜV GmbH has merged its classic "TÜV" business with those of two other technical inspection organisations, TÜV NORD e.V. in Hamburg and TÜV Hannover/Sachsen-Anhalt e.V. in Hannover. The new company - TÜV NORD AG - with its 7.000 employees is one of the major players on the global inspection market.

Independently of the merger RWTÜV GmbH continuous to maintain a portfolio of technical service companies operating in three areas of competence.
