MOVE AS ONE
The RWTÜV Group operates under the motto move AS ONE: The RWTÜV Group's brands are strong individually, but we inspire each other, benefit from each other, and develop together. With this strategy, Thomas Biedermann and Dr. Fabian Fechner, together with the RWTÜV Group, aim to deliver operational excellence.
From association to corporation

As a result of the liberalisation of technical inspection in Germany, RWTÜV transformed into an innovative, market-oriented, international service company. In the course of this, a group structure corresponding to the usual industry standard emerged in 1993, placing the operating business into independent investment companies beneath a management holding company, today's RWTÜV GmbH. Via RWTÜV Holding GmbH, RWTÜV e.V. is today the majority shareholder of RWTÜV GmbH. Further shareholders are the RWTÜV Foundation and TÜV Thüringen e.V.
In the 2004 financial year, in view of the economic challenges of liberalisation, the strategic decision was taken to split RWTÜV into two significantly more focused and efficient business groups:
RWTÜV's investment companies focused on new technologies were consolidated as the RWTÜV business group and bundled under RWTÜV GmbH in the business areas of insurance services, information and telecommunications technology, and energy & environment.
The classic TÜV testing and inspection services of RWTÜV, by contrast, were merged with those of TÜV NORD e.V. and TÜV Hannover/Sachsen-Anhalt e.V. The merger of these classic TÜV services gave rise to the TÜV NORD business group, in whose management holding, TÜV NORD AG, RWTÜV GmbH holds a stake.
The strategic decision to split into two mutually independent, more efficient business groups has proven successful and exceeded all expectations. At the same time, all economic challenges of liberalisation have been mastered.
In 2007, RWTÜV e.V. established the RWTÜV Foundation. Its foundation purpose "Promotion of science and research in the fields of technology, safety and the environment" is complementary to the association purpose of RWTÜV e.V. The RWTÜV Foundation supports science and research at renowned universities. Like RWTÜV e.V., the RWTÜV Foundation holds shares in RWTÜV Holding GmbH and thus indirectly in RWTÜV GmbH.
Today, RWTÜV e.V. and the RWTÜV Foundation form the umbrella of the RWTÜV business group. They stand for the core values of the business group, namely neutrality, independence and solidity. At the same time, RWTÜV e.V. and the RWTÜV Foundation guarantee the sustainable development of the RWTÜV business group, free from the influences of the capital market.
The RWTÜV business group is thus sustainably positioned as an independent business group with a multi-brand strategy.
