Essen, June 14, 2022 With an atmospheric celebration, RWTÜV marked the climax of its year-long anniversary festivities on Thursday, June 9, 2022. Around 60 invited guests, including Essen’s Mayor Thomas Kufen, as well as the administrative board, supervisory board, other representatives of the group’s committees, and the managing directors of the subsidiaries, were able to trace the diverse history of the traditional company, which started as the „Steam Boiler Inspection Association“ in 1872, through film, word, and image contributions. They also experienced a highly motivated outlook into RWTÜV’s future. „Today we are no longer a classic TÜV, but we embody its classic values and technical competence – and we are expanding them. In this spirit, you will hear a lot more from us!“ announced RWTÜV Managing Director Thomas Biedermann confidently. In his congratulatory remarks, Mayor Kufen praised the successful combination of regional ties and internationalization, as well as the preservation of medium-sized values as fertile ground for future vision and leadership.
The evening at the Essen corporate headquarters transitioned into an art exhibition opening with live music from young musicians from the Folkwang University of the Arts. The guests present were impressed by the works on display by Mehmet Karaca, Juri Kim, and Hang Dong, all three recent graduates of the Essen University of Fine Arts (HBK).
The anniversary celebration was one of the highlights of the company, which has grown in 150 years from a self-help association to an agile holding company with activities in the energy & environment, IT & telecommunications, and insurance services sectors. A few weeks ago, the RWTÜV Startup Prize, with a total endowment of 150,000 euros, was awarded to three young companies from the region under the patronage of NRW Minister Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart; the launch of the internal innovation and training platform called „RWTÜV Campus“ took place on June 10th.
