Dual studies are very popular in Germany. According to the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE), the number of students who complete longer practical phases in a company simultaneously has quadrupled in 15 years. Combining theory and practice is also the goal of a newly concluded cooperation between FOM University of Applied Sciences and RWTÜV GmbH. A corresponding agreement has now been signed.
„With RWTÜV GmbH, we have gained a strong partner that has been successful in the market for over 150 years,“ says Frank Quirbach, General Manager of FOM in Essen. Starting in the winter semester of 2023, the first RWTÜV GmbH trainees are set to begin their dual study program at FOM University of Applied Sciences in Essen. The primary focus will be on the Bachelor's degree program in „Business Administration.“ „Students will acquire business administration expertise that they can integrate into their professional lives from day one,“ Quirbach continues.
Attractive opportunity for both sides
On behalf of RWTÜV GmbH, which operates in the insurance services, telecommunications, and energy & environment business sectors, the cooperation creates real added value. „From our perspective, dual study programs offer many advantages – both for us as employers and for young people who are faced with the choice of what to do after graduation. They don't have to make a decision; they can start their professional lives early with vocational training and still pursue a degree,“ says Thomas Biedermann, Chairman of the Management Board of RWTÜV GmbH.

Fabian Fechner, also a Managing Director of RWTÜV GmbH, adds regarding the newly concluded cooperation: „With FOM, we have chosen a university that demonstrably has many years of experience with dual studies and many successful graduates.“
