Maximize employee potential

Dear readers,

How can we serve our customers even better, test their products even more safely, or secure their companies even more effectively? How can we empower our employees in their daily work, and which targeted development measures will lead to them being more motivated and satisfied, and thus more successful for themselves and for us? How do we retain them in the company and thus also address the problem of skilled labor shortage?

One way or another, all the articles in the February newsletter are related to this topic. Because happy employees are the be-all and end-all, especially for a company focused on services.

In this spirit, have a successful day as well.,

Your
Thomas Biedermann and Fabian Fechner

More efficient.

At RWTÜV subsidiary Van Ameyde Deutschland, the use of AI has been measurably easing the daily workload for about a year and a half. Yvonne Otto, as Process Owner, and Ali Uzun, as Process Expert and AI Trainer, have been responsible for the planning, introduction, continuous improvement, and support of the new KartificialIintelligenceMEmployee nicknamed KIM.

The objective of the „Hyperautomation” pilot project at Van Ameyde in the Netherlands and Norway, with software partner Simplifai, was to screen correspondence via artificial intelligence, prepare it for targeted processing, and make it available in the claims files.

Around 600 incoming emails daily, so-called unstructured data, which were previously manually read, assigned, and filed by employees of the Administration & Services department, now first go through the digital „desk” of KIM – and that day and night.

Yvonne Otto, Head of Department Administration & Services or Staff Unit Project Assistance at Van Ameyde Germany and responsible for project coordination and communication, emphasizes: „Through this saved time, through the freeing up of capacities, we can enable employees to take on more sophisticated tasks with higher added value through further training. After all, job cuts were never the company's goal with this project; quite the opposite.”

Ali Uzun is responsible for the permanent training input for KIM. He reviews results and works on troubleshooting in collaboration with Simplifai. Yvonne Otto's interim conclusion: „The establishment is naturally complex. Several thousand documents had to be selected, classified, and imported. And for the affected case workers, the preparatory work done by AI instead of humans is also an adjustment they need to get used to. But at the end of the day, this procedure brings incredible efficiency advantages. AI is the future, and we will conquer further fields of application with it and through it.”

Skilled.

The RWTÜV Group's executive training offensive, launched in 2023, entered its next phase in February. The group's second management level met in Mettmann, where topics such as strategy, innovation, leadership, values, against the backdrop of „Profile Dynamics®,” and controlling were on the agenda. Despite or perhaps because of their different tasks and portfolios, there was intensive work and much learning from and about each other in a positive atmosphere.

The further development of the leadership team is a necessary and rewarding investment, especially against the backdrop of a rapidly growing corporate group, and is therefore a particular concern for Group Managing Directors Thomas Biedermann and Fabian Fechner. The next module will take place in mid-April in Cologne.

Motivated.

On February 16, 2024, the RWTÜV Foundation invited its new scholarship recipients from the cooperation with the University of Duisburg Essen to its Essen headquarters to get to know the RWTÜV Group.

RWTÜV Managing Director Thomas Biedermann and Fabian Fechner presented the group's business divisions, corporate values, goals, and visions to the eleven highly motivated students present from the fields of electrical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, and IT.

In five-minute impulse presentations, Laura Lipp (G+N), Niels Jeß (cetecom advanced), Julian Beyer (CONSULECTRA), Stefan Dreischenkemper (cesitec), Maximilian Driessen (IB Nordhorn), and Tobias Apel (apro.gmbh — online) also presented some of the RWTÜV subsidiaries and their areas of activity.

After the informative presentations, there was relaxed networking at the snack buffet. The invited students gathered information about the corporation and its prospects, while the company representatives were interested in the scholars„ expectations of their sponsorship and their future plans: How can the experts of the future be optimally trained, while simultaneously being interested in and ideally committed to one's own company?

„The awarding of scholarships to promising international and diverse young talent for business and science is both an investment in the future of our business areas and our region, and an opportunity to establish and position the RWTÜV Group as a top employer,” explained Fabian Fechner on the sidelines of the successful event.

Women in Focus.

On the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8, RWTÜV sought ideas for further promoting women and their concerns within the group. How can equal opportunities be guaranteed in the company, how can support be provided to enable the full realization of potential?

Even though the RWTÜV Group has been committed to diversity and equality for many years, Group Managing Director Thomas Biedermann still sees room for improvement: „We continue to see an imbalance in the committees, in the management ranks, but also at other levels. And we ask ourselves why that is, when we have been trying to counteract it for years. That's why our challenge for International Women's Day. What more can we do, what levers do we need to pull?”.
A variety of interesting suggestions were submitted by our female and male colleagues, which can be read on the campaign page. We will, of course, present the winning idea and follow-up measures in future issues.
