Dear Readers,

Many exciting things are happening in the RWTÜV Group: individual employees of our subsidiaries take an interesting initiative, our headquarters provides cross-departmental guidance or presents focus topics, a department develops a new product idea, and the trade show calendar offers a platform for joint action… The monthly RWTÜV newsletter is intended to keep you and you colleagues regularly informed about all of this. In parallel with the communication on the RWTÜV CAMPUS and the business network LinkedIn, so that we can continue to move forward together.

Several submissions to our latest innovation competition, “Identify AS ONE. Stronger together!”, demonstrate a strong interest in and significant potential for cross-Group synergies. Have you already browsed through the submissions – or even submitted an idea yourself? We can only encourage you to do so: it is well worth it!

The same goes for the critisLAB Corporate Security Conference and all about automation trade fair in Zurich, both of which proved highly worthwhile, as we report in the following articles. Also well worth following is the RWTÜV Group’s monthly AI call, which focuses on potential applications and opportunities for artificial intelligence across our Group.

We would also like to inform you that apro.gmbh left the RWTÜV Group at the end of August as part of a management buyout. Following a successful reorganisation, Tobias Apel plans to further develop the company as an agile consulting partner specialising in IT security infrastructure for the public sector. We would like to thank our colleagues at apro.gmbh for many years of successful collaboration and wish them every success for the future!

We hope you enjoy reading this issue.
Warm regards,

Thomas Biedermann and Dr Fabian Fechner

Enabler

On 26 and 27 August 2026, automation, robotics, digitalisation and industrial maintenance took centre stage at Messe Zürich. ‘all about automation‘ is Switzerland’s leading meeting place for industrial automation. Naturally, RWTÜV subsidiary cetecom advanced was there to engage with users and decision-makers, manufacturers, integrators, software providers and service companies on new solutions for flexible automation and smart production.

230 exhibitors showcased systems, components, software and engineering solutions for industrial automation and industrial communications. A total of 4,232 industry professionals discovered solution partners helping to make automation more flexible, simplify manufacturing processes, enable digitalisation and optimise costs.

Andreas Ehre reflects on the trade fair appearance: “We are one of the leading providers of product testing and international certification, including for complex solutions in industrial automation. Bringing our experts on board at an early stage can be crucial to the development process. With our services, we support customers throughout the entire journey – from development and testing to approval and market launch. At a dynamic and rapidly growing trade fair such as all about automation in Zurich, we have an excellent opportunity to showcase our expertise and services to existing and prospective customers.”

Pioneer

On September 3, the 7th Corporate Security Conference hosted by critisLAB took place in Berlin. Dr. Jörg Treffke, State Secretary at the Brandenburg Ministry of the Interior, opened the conference with a keynote address and announced Brandenburg’s ambition to become a pioneer in legislation governing video detection and counter-drone measures for critical infrastructure (KRITIS).

The relevance and timeliness of the conference and its topics could hardly be overstated. Several security incidents in the region and across Germany are currently occupying the attention of authorities and the media. “In a world facing a multitude of hybrid threats in both the physical and digital spheres, we need to connect, share knowledge and pool our resources. Every stakeholder should be able to benefit from best-practice measures,” explains Dr. Bernd Benser, Managing Director and founder of critisLAB, highlighting the significance of the event.

More than 70 representatives from companies operating in critical infrastructure (KRITIS) attended presentations by the German Armed Forces, the Brandenburg Ministry of the Interior, KRITIS companies and critisLAB experts. The conference also provided an opportunity for participants to exchange views on corporate security, security measures and emergency preparedness and response.

“The recent attacks on critical energy infrastructure once again highlight the importance of corporate security for our society. With this forum, Dr. Bernd Benser has created a platform of enormous significance for the security of critical infrastructure facilities in our country,” said Dr. Fabian Fechner, Managing Director of RWTÜV, who also attended the conference.

Accelerator

Projects developed with or supported by artificial intelligence (AI) are gaining momentum across the RWTÜV Group. In its day-to-day work, RWTÜV Holding is already supported by Microsoft 365 Copilot, which was rolled out in cooperation with TÜV NORD. More importantly, however, Marcel Hellingrath, AI Lead at RWTÜV Group headquarters, has established a Group-wide AI project roadmap. “Artificial intelligence is an important building block for the future and competitiveness of the RWTÜV Group. We are increasingly developing methods and approaches that enable us to identify relevant use cases together and quickly develop practical solutions for everyday use,” says Marcel.

The roadmap is designed to ensure that the potential of AI is harnessed in a structured, secure and economically viable way. A monthly AI call, established in April and bringing together managing directors and AI representatives from the Group’s subsidiaries, provides a platform to present and discuss current developments, best practices and new use cases.

Several AI initiatives are already underway. At Enoplan, for example, a solution for the automated extraction and processing of invoice data from energy bills has been developed together with Van Ameyde. This has reduced manual processing steps while sustainably improving efficiency and data quality. At IB Nordhorn, the team is exploring how AI can be used to automate and optimise the planning of technical utility routes. In addition, cetecom advanced and Van Ameyde are working on an AI-powered solution for the automated analysis of customer documents and the generation of draft quotations.

Marcel explains: “These projects demonstrate how AI can already help make processes more efficient, reduce the workload for employees and unlock new potential across the Group. By sharing our experiences regularly in the AI call, we inspire each other with new ideas, learn from each other’s mistakes and move forward faster.”

Winners

The Sustainability team at RWTÜV subsidiary Enoplan took second place in the latest internal innovation competition, “Smart Innovation for a Safer Tomorrow.” Their idea, “ClimateResilient 360° – Consulting for Climate-Adapted Infrastructure and Resilient Sites,” proposed the development of a new service and was recognised by both the jury and the community.

Janine Gauder, Katrin Speck and Rik Amberger put their well-deserved prize money towards a special shared experience: a trip to Strasbourg and the European Parliament. The three gained insights into the work of European institutions and visited places where decisions – including those related to sustainability – are shaped through discussions, negotiations and votes.

Afterwards, the group explored Strasbourg’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed historic centre, with its unique blend of landmarks reflecting both German and French history.
